Instant Noodles

The Classic that started it allRecently, I attended the LA County fair. It’s much larger than the Del Mar Fair (now unfortunately known as the SD County Fair) and contains a slightly better variety of food booths, rides/games, and activities. Tucked away in the corner of the fair was the Nong Shim booth. For those of you that aren’t acclimated to the wonders of Nong Shim, let me enlighten you. Nong Shim is a Korean instant noodle company that produces a spicy, tasty instant noodle bowl that will blow out your tastebuds and supply you with an annual dosage of salt. They had a wheel which you could spin to win free swag, such as a shirt, measuring cup, and noodle bowls. I ended up walking away from the place with a case of the noodles pictured to your left. I will admit, these noodles are highly addicting. I’m also well aware that they provide no nutritional value whatsoever, while at the same time, erodes my life expectancy one bite at a time. Do I give a damn? HELL NO. As a result, in my search for all things instant and all things noodles, I stumbled across this page of instant noodle reviews. For you instant noodle fans, this is your grail dairy.

San Diego Roads

Typical San Diego road conditions“A new study ranks San Diego’s roads and highways as the sixth-worst among major U.S. cities.

Some 54 percent of San Diego highways and roads have pavement in poor condition, according to The Road Information Program, or TRIP, which advocates more road-building and repair. An additional 30 percent of local roads were deemed mediocre.” — KFMB, CBS News 8

If anyone has ever driven a car in San Diego, it’s impossible to fathom how the city isn’t ranked #1 by a huge margin. The roads in this city are absolutely terrible. And as salt in the wounds, the city goes ahead and spends $59.89 quadrillion on a stupid commuter bus project that no one would ever use. Instead of adding more lanes, improving road conditions, or laying the groundwork for a rapid rail system, the city is determined to squander money on useless, bloated projects. Way to stay classy San Diego.

NLDS - Game 1

Piazza on his way to Cooperstown

The picture says it all, summing up the entire game for the Padres. A solid effort, but just a bit shy of delivering. Peavy danced with the devil one too many times, and Pujols made him pay. I think that 2-run shot really rattled him for a bit. I give piazza the benefit of the doubt with the netting and burning out his retinas by staring in the sun to track the ball. I wouldn’t have felt as bad about the loss if the Padres hadn’t left so many scoring opportunities on the table. Granted the Cardinals’ defense was top notch the entire game, the Padres just couldn’t deliver. The only productive people were Doc Roberts and Giles. The rest were pathetic on every level and should be ashamed of themselves. Not only did their limp bats keep the Padres totally out of the game, it provided fuel for the all the sports analysts to incessantly talk about Chris Carpenter. Must he always be referred to as “Last Year’s Cy Young Award Winner Chris Carpenter” or “Cy Young Frontrunner Chris Carpenter” or “Possible Back-To-Back Cy Young Award Winner Chris Carpenter”? Shoot me in the fucking face. I’m confident the Pads will bounce back, because we have a deep bullpen and a hungry team. The only thing that can make it worse is if the Dodgers won tonight. Anything but the Dodgers winning. Please.
